Lyndhurst

The village of Lyndhurst is known as the 'capital' of the New Forest. You will find a great variety of shops and eateries as well as the New Forest Museum and Visitor Centre.

In Lyndhurst churchyard you will find the grave of Alice Hargreaves for whom Lewis Carroll created the "Alice in Wonderland" story. The church itself is notable for its distinctive 19th century architecture. The gothic interior well worth a visit. Two miles to the West on the A35 you will find the New Forest Reptile Centre where you can see (if you are lucky) many species if British reptiles. Entrance is free of charge (although there is a small car park charge).
