New Forest Accommodation

If you're looking for New Forest accommodation for between 2 and 8 people in a superb location on the open New Forest, here’s more detail about the accommodation.

Bartley Barn occupies the main part of a detached barn style modern building, which also contains the owners’ garage. It is situated within the grounds of Bartley House where the owners, Bill and Jane Porter, live all year round. Support is therefore on hand when needed, but guests enjoy their own entrance well away from the house, and the main windows look out onto the Barn’s private sheltered terrace which enjoys the sun from mid morning onwards in the summer months. Adjacent to the terrace is a small paddock which can be booked with the accommodation if you would like to bring your pet horses, ponies or dog on holiday with you.

The accommodation comprises:

On the ground floor...

  • Open plan living and dining area. Comfy sofas (one converts to an extra double bed if required), low tables, CD/Radio, TV with Freeview and DVD, dining table and six chairs, books and games.
  • Modern fitted kitchen with electric hob and oven, 1½ bowl sink and drainer, dishwasher, integrated washing machine, large fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, breakfast table and six chairs. French doors to terrace.
  • Newly renovated and decorated double bedroom located adjacent to the shower room. Double bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe. This room has dual aspect: east facing out over the owners’ garden, and west facing onto the owners' patio.
  • Shower room with WC, washbasin and large shower cubicle with powerful shower.
  • Furniture for the private terrace: sun loungers and wooden chairs. The wooden dining table can also be taken outside in fine weather. A small table and a barbecue live on the terrace.
  • French doors from the kitchen lead out onto a small wooden deck area which looks out over the owners' garden - a good spot to catch the early morning sun.

Up the spiral staircase to the first floor...

  • The staircase leads to the centre of the long semi open plan loft with restricted headroom, which extends over the whole of the downstairs accommodation and the owners' garage. Three large velux windows look over the paddock to the New Forest beyond. The top of the staircase separates the two sleeping areas, each taking up half of the loft.
  • Behind a partition wall the first spacious sleeping area contains a double bed with bedside tables and a small sofa. Built in clothes storage area with shelves and hanging space.
  • From the top of the stairs the other half of the loft contains a five foot double bed incorporating two separate 2ft 6in mattresses, and a small chest of drawers on each side of the bed. Two single beds each with a small bedside table, and there is also a travel cot.

We provide duvets, 2 pillows per person, bed linen and towels, for all guests (including cot with bedding and linen when required).

We accept up to two well-behaved dogs, downstairs only, subject to a small extra charge. (Please get in touch if you have questions about bringing your dogs to our New Forest accommodation – we have been known to take more than two on occasion, provided they are extremely well behaved!)

There is accommodation for horses & ponies in the paddock at certain times of the year at an extra charge – please enquire. Likewise, storage is available in the paddock by arrangement for horse and boat trailers.

Maps of the New Forest, guides, books and games are provided for your use, and there is a file containing details of favourite walks, bike rides, restaurants and family friendly New Forest pubs. (When you book to stay at our New Forest accommodation at Bartley Barn, we will send you in advance of your visit some notes to help you plan your holiday in this south east section of the New Forest National Park.)
